Guide

To use a Minecraft seed map you first need to know what a seed is: a seed is the number Minecraft builds the world from: the mountains and oceans, the biomes, and structures like villages and temples. With a given seed in a given version you always get the same world, so anyone who knows the seed can tell where things are without walking.

That matters when you're looking for a village, a stronghold (to throw eyes of ender) or a specific biome and don't want to roam for hours.

How to find biomes and structures in Minecraft

Say you just started a new world and want the nearest village and stronghold.

1. Get the seed. With cheats on, type /seed in chat. On a server, the level-seed line in server.properties also shows it (if it's blank, the seed is random and only /seed reveals it).

2. Find a structure. Type /locate structure minecraft:village. The game writes the coordinates of the nearest village in chat; for a stronghold use minecraft:stronghold and for a desert temple minecraft:desert_pyramid. The result is only X and Z and says nothing about what's inside.

3. Find a biome. For a biome use /locate biome minecraft:cherry_grove (or any other biome). Again you only get the nearest one.

4. Slime chunks. Commands can't do this. A slime chunk is computed from the seed and the chunk coordinates, and finding one by hand means spending a long time below Y=40 waiting for slimes to spawn.

5. Limits. /locate returns one point per call and needs cheats. To compare several villages you have to repeat the command from different spots, and you can't test a seed before creating the world at all.

Quick guide to the seed map

Instead of doing all this by hand, you can do it much more simply with this tool:

  1. In "سید ورلد" (world seed) type the seed, or click the random seed button.
  2. Set "نسخه جاوا" (Java version) to your world's version and choose Overworld, Nether or End under "بُعد" (dimension).
  3. Under "لایه‌ها" (layers) turn on biomes, spawn point, slime chunks and structures, or click "همه" (all) / "هیچ" (none).
  4. Drag the map, scroll to zoom and click a structure to see its details and chest contents.
  5. Use "کپی مختصات" (copy coordinates) or "کپی لینک" (copy link) to share the spot.

Common seed mistakes

  • Wrong version: structure positions differ between versions, so pick your world's version.
  • Looking for a Nether structure in the Overworld: Nether fortresses and bastions only exist in the Nether; switch the dimension.

Frequently asked questions

No, only numeric seeds. If you made the world with a word, the game turned it into a number, and that number is what you enter; the /seed command shows it.

Usually the game version differs. World generation has changed between versions, so one seed gives different maps in two versions. Pick the exact version of your world. A biome mod or data pack used at world creation will also make the map differ.

No, this map is for Java Edition. Bedrock uses a different algorithm and builds another world from the same number.

In some Overworld chunks slimes spawn below Y=40. Slime farms are built there, and the location can only be known from the seed.

A village close by, several different biomes around the spawn point and a temple or stronghold nearby. Check these on the map.
